New Release! 2020 Domaine Paul Jaboulet Aîné's wines have landed

We are pleased to announce that Paul Jaboulet’s 2020 vintage have landed!

Almost two centuries ago, this famous vineyard was established by Antoine Jaboulet. Hermitage is a small commune in the Northern Rhône Valley and the La Chapelle vineyard slopes down to the banks of the beautiful Rhône River. The chapel, after which it is named, was built in 1235 and sits at the top of the hill. It is small and simple, yet one of the most powerful images in the world of wine. The region Hermitage is so called after the hermit that used to live there alone on the hill.

Paul Jaboulet’s wines

2020 Paul Jaboulet Aîné Crozes Hermitage Domaine de Thalabert

“The 2020 Crozes Hermitage Domaine de Thalabert boasts effusive aromas of cracked pepper, black olives, cherries and blueberries. The medium to full-bodied palate delivers some soft dusty tannins and decent length, but it’s surprisingly lacking in concentration..” – Robert Parker

A bright purple colour followed by a nice aroma of fresh berry fruit and florals with a hint of fresh pepper. This wine is wonderfully expressive and floral with a graceful core of violets, followed by a richly-fruited core with umami notes on the finish.

2020 Paul Jaboulet Aîné Hermitage le Chevalier de Sterimberg Marsanne/Rousanne

“A 60-40 blend of Marsanne and Roussanne that aged exclusively in concrete, the 2020 Hermitage Blanc Le Chevalier de Sterimberg features some slightly leesy aromas, plus hints of under ripe pear, anise and citrus. Picked early and weighing in at only 13% alcohol, it’s a crisp, medium-bodied, tight, yet elegant effort that bears little resemblance to most modern-day white Hermitages..” – Robert Parker

This bright gold wine with a slightly green hue mixes the aroma of jasmine, stone fruit, bananas, almonds, mineral and lemon pith on the nose. It is a crisp, medium bodied elegant wine that contains hints of citrus, underripe pear, and anise.

2020 Paul Jaboulet Aîné Saint-Joseph La Croix des Vignes

“From a two-hectare vineyard parcel in Tournon, the 2020 Saint Joseph Domaine de la Croix des Vignes delivers notes of crushed stone and cassis marked by hints of espresso and dark chocolate. Medium to full-bodied, it’s silky and fine, showing a pleasing level of elegance.” – Robert Parker.

2020 Paul Jaboulet Aîné Hermitage le Chapelle

“An excellent wine, with classic aromas of crushed stone, cassis, espresso and black olives. It’s full-bodied, fine and silky, giving an impression of great elegance on the lingering finish.” – 94 points Robert Parker

This wine has a deep purple colour with a blue tinge. On the nose portrays deep red stone fruit with a dark citrus zest. On the palate, a bitter blackfruit with cream and an olive tapenade rounded off with an umami core. The wine’s freshness comes from juicy citrus fruits supported by minerals. A clean, peppery and long delicious finish that’ll see you into the future.
